About Us

Two traditions,
one home

The Russian School of Bluegrass was born from a simple conviction: that music and language are inseparable threads in the tapestry of culture. Nestled on Scott Street in Lexington, we offer a space where the rich storytelling of Russian folk tradition dances with the raw, heartfelt spirit of American bluegrass.

Whether you're picking up a fiddle for the first time or exploring the rhythms of the Russian language, our approach is patient, personal, and deeply rooted in the belief that learning is most powerful when it connects you to something larger than yourself.

Our Philosophy

"Music is the language the soul speaks when words fall short — and language is the music we carry in our voices."

At the Russian School of Bluegrass, we don't treat language and music as separate subjects. They inform each other. The cadence of a Pushkin poem shapes how you hear a ballad. The rhythm of a Kentucky fiddle tune reveals the musicality hidden in every Russian verb. We teach both — and the space between them.
